Furthering sustainability, Braskem expanded its biopolymer production capacity, particularly etylene derived from renewable ethanol at its Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul plant. Marking 15 years since launching the I’m green™ bio-based polyethylene, the company increased capacity from 200,000 to approximately 275,000 tons annually, with plans to reach one million tons of bioproducts by 2030. The renewable polyethylene reduces CO₂ emissions through carbon capture during production and is applied across multiple sectors, including packaging and footwear. Braskem also upholds circular economy commitments by integrating recycled materials into its product lines and pursuing certifications such as ISCC Plus.
Operationally, Braskem’s energy transition involves migrating industrial plants to free natural gas markets, achieving estimated monthly savings and increased flexibility, exemplified by the plant in Triunfo. Its global footprint spans 40 industrial units across Brazil, the US, Germany, and Mexico, with strategic investments favoring eco-efficiency and ESG goals. The ongoing Program Global de Resiliência e Transformação directs efforts toward cost optimization, sustainable feedstock diversification, and enhanced flexibility in production, driving an EBITDA increase of $240 million and cash generation of $330 million year-to-date.
Braskem’s integrated approach, combining innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability, aligns with its ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The firm remains a key global petrochemical player adapting to evolving market and regulatory pressures while fostering stakeholder value and environmental stewardship.
