The green hydrogen fueling station and production plant, located in Taguatinga (Federal District), represent the first facility in Brazil dedicated to urban mobility applications. Neoenergia’s plant uses photovoltaic solar energy to power water electrolysis, producing hydrogen with approximately 90% domestic technological content supplied by the Brazilian company Hytron. This facility was developed with an investment exceeding R$30 million, financed via the Research, Development, and Innovation Program regulated by Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). The fueling infrastructure also serves as a knowledge center, facilitating further innovation and viability studies on green hydrogen applications in transport and industrial sectors.
The free Rota Monumental city tour connects key Brasília landmarks, such as the TV Tower, National Stadium, and the Three Powers Plaza, enhancing tourism while showcasing sustainable innovation. Initial operation occurs on Saturdays with potential expansion depending on demand. Authorities from Neoenergia, TEVX, and the GDF emphasized the pilot project’s role in decarbonizing public transport and positioning Brasília as a national leader in clean mobility. This initiative reinforces Brazil’s evolving energy transition landscape and the strategic role of green hydrogen in reducing carbon footprints within urban transport networks.
