Genneia is progressing on a major expansion of the Parque Solar San Rafael in Mendoza, Argentina, with a new investment phase of $180 million that will increase installed capacity to 180 megawatts. The project’s second transformer, a 115 MVA unit at the Estación Transformadora Agua del Toro, was recently energized, following the commissioning of the first 220/33 kV transformer on November 29, reinforcing the region’s electrical infrastructure for renewable integration. Located on a 500-hectare site in the 25 de Mayo district, the park will deploy approximately 400,000 bifacial solar panels, including 65,000 new units in this phase, mounted on single-axis trackers to optimize solar incidence and improve overall efficiency by up to 10%. The expanded facility’s annual generation is projected at roughly 542,000 MWh, sufficient to supply about 135,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 240,000 tons annually. Operational commencement is slated for the second quarter of 2026. This phase raises Genneia’s total investment in Mendoza’s renewable assets to $430 million by 2026, including three solar parks—San Rafael, Anchoris, and Malargüe I—supporting the province’s strategic advancement in clean energy. The provincial government endorses these developments, facilitated by incentives exempting projects from Ingresos Brutos and Stamp Duty taxes, aiming to position Mendoza as a critical renewable energy hub nationally. Genneia CEO Bernardo Andrews highlighted Mendoza as a cornerstone of the company’s renewable growth strategy, serving increasing industrial demand for sustainable energy sources. This expansion complements the recent commercial launch of the Anchoris park in Luján de Cuyo, with 180 MW capacity and a $160 million investment, part of a broader regional portfolio reaching approximately 490 MW in operation. By 2026, Genneia expects to surpass 1.7 GW of renewable capacity nationwide. Enhancements in regional grid infrastructure enable more effective integration of this clean generation, contributing to Argentina’s transition toward a diversified and low-carbon power matrix.
