Diego Fettweis, HIF Global’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted that the agreement expands sustainable fuel deployment by leveraging operational experience from HIF’s Haru Oni project in southern Chile and its wider international project portfolio. This complements HIF’s previous 2025 collaboration with Mabanaft for e-fuels commercialization in Europe. German eFuel One’s CEO Christian Hanke emphasized the agreement’s role in enabling industrial-scale production of synthetic fuels, which is critical for decarbonizing transport and industrial sectors. The Port of Hamburg is identified as a key logistical hub for green molecule imports to Europe, enhancing regional industry and national energy security ambitions.
E-Methanol’s adaptability allows use across existing infrastructures without modification and across several sectors, including maritime transport and industrial applications. It also serves as a feedstock for other sustainable fuels like e-Gasoline and e-SAF. The upcoming definitive supply contract will support the expansion of global e-fuel production capabilities, positioning HIF Global as a strategic supplier and Hamburg as a European green energy import center.
