The project represents a significant milestone in Peru’s strategy to increase access to clean, safe, and sustainable energy, following decades of delayed implementation. With a budget of approximately 24 million soles, the initiative is supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), which has indicated intentions to establish thirteen similar satellite plants in the region over 2025-2026.
During his two-day stay, Jerí also formalized the administrative transfer of the Inca Garcilaso Stadium to the Cusco regional government, enabling modernization efforts of the key sports infrastructure. He conducted inspections of ongoing works at the Antonio Lorena Hospital, which is receiving a 200 million soles budget allocation for completion, and the development of the Chinchero Airport, reaffirming government commitment to finalizing these long-delayed projects.
The president’s visit included security enhancements through assessment of the Cusco public surveillance center with 170 cameras, aimed at strengthening citizen safety. Coordination with regional authorities, including Governor Werner Salcedo, emphasized prompt execution and oversight of infrastructure projects to drive equitable economic growth in southern Peru. This concentrated government engagement signals accelerated momentum for the region’s energy and public service modernization agenda.
