The renewable electricity will be supplied from two major YPF Luz projects: the General Levalle Wind Farm in Córdoba and the El Quemado Solar Park in Mendoza. General Levalle features 25 advanced wind turbines and a capacity of 155 MW, harnessing strong regional winds to deliver clean power. El Quemado is currently operating 200 MW of a planned 305 MW capacity, positioning it as Argentina’s largest solar installation. Its array includes over 330,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels maximizing solar capture.
SkyOnline CEO Rafael Ibañez emphasized the agreement as a concrete step in their sustainability strategy, highlighting that digital transformation must be paired with energy transition. He stated that integrating renewable energy reduces carbon footprint without compromising operational availability or performance. YPF Luz CEO Martín Mandarano noted the deal underlines their capacity to provide reliable, efficient renewable electricity essential for data center operations, reinforcing YPF Luz’s competitive position in servicing industries leading digital transformation.
This development aligns with growing global and regional trends towards renewable energy procurement in data center operations, as countries in Latin America such as Brazil, Chile, and Colombia also pursue cleaner energy mixes to foster infrastructure investment. The initiative reflects an increasing sectoral commitment to decarbonizing power consumption while responding to rapid growth in digital service demand. YPF Luz operates with total installed capacity of 3.6 GW and currently supplies 10% of Argentina’s electricity demand, simultaneously expanding solar and battery storage projects to enhance system flexibility.
