The agreement was signed by Sergio Mengoni, Director General and Country Chair of TotalEnergies Argentina, and Lisandro Deleonardis, President of IVM and YPF’s VP of Public Affairs. Horacio Marín, YPF’s CEO, emphasized the institute’s strategic importance for global competitiveness, underscoring the need for all operators to collaborate in delivering practical, controlled-environment training that complements existing education systems.
IVM will provide comprehensive training across eight specialized profiles, including drilling operators, hydraulic fracture specialists, production technicians, and maintenance personnel in electrical and mechanical disciplines. The curriculum consists of 304 hours over four months initially, supplemented with continuous education and technological retraining programs for active employees. Innovative infrastructure, such as a “pozo escuela” (training well) at Río Neuquén, will enable hands-on experience with critical field operations under supervision. The administrative and academic hub will be located at Neuquén’s Polo Tecnológico, equipped with simulators and modern laboratories.
Mengoni highlighted TotalEnergies’ nearly five-decade presence in Argentina and over 30 years in Neuquén, framing investment in technical education as part of its social and economic commitment. The partnership with IVM reinforces the company’s role in supporting sustainable growth in Argentina’s oil and gas sector, addressing workforce bottlenecks while advancing the country’s ambition to become a leading energy exporter.
