The food and non-alcoholic beverages division recorded the largest sectoral increase at 0.67%, propelled by a 16.8% surge in fish and seafood prices. Bonito fish jumped 48.7%, jack mackerel rose 18.1%, hake increased 8.8%, and mullet gained 6.5%. Fruit prices climbed 5.1%, led by mango at 27.2%, Israeli apple at 22.8%, papaya at 14.0%, and cucumber at 13.5%. Chicken eggs rose 4.5% within the dairy and eggs category, which increased 1.3% overall. Among condiments, ground rocoto pepper advanced 5.8% and ground panca pepper 5.2%.
Furniture and household goods prices increased 0.48%, while restaurants and hotels rose 0.42%. Restaurant breakfasts climbed 0.9%, chaufa rice 0.6%, and rotisserie chicken 0.4%. Personal care services advanced 0.5%, with manicure and pedicure services up 0.7% and men’s haircuts 0.6%.
Transport prices declined 0.46%, driven by a 6.0% drop in vehicle fuels. Gasohol and diesel both fell 6.5%, while vehicular liquefied petroleum gas decreased 2.0%. Domestic airfares dropped 5.7%, contributing to a 0.8% decline in air passenger transport.
At the national level, consumer prices increased 0.13% in June with a 3.40% year-to-date accumulation and 3.57% annual rate. Ten cities recorded price increases during the month. The wholesale price index showed upward movement, though specific June figures were not disclosed in the statistical release.
