YPF Luz operates 3,800 megawatts of installed capacity across eight Argentine provinces, representing approximately 10 percent of national electricity supply. The portfolio includes 405 megawatts of solar capacity through the 100-megawatt Zonda park in San Juan and the 305-megawatt El Quemado facility in Mendoza, which began operations in May 2026 after a USD 220 million investment. Five wind parks complement the renewable mix, with solar and wind installations accounting for 19 percent of total generation in the twelve months through March 2026.
The subsidiary reported adjusted EBITDA of USD 479 million for the twelve months ended June 2026. YPF Luz also holds a 90-megawatt, 450-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system under development at the Dock Sud plant in Buenos Aires province, awarded through the 2025 AlmaGBA tender that allocated 667 megawatts of storage capacity.
The acquisition follows YPF Luz’s submission of documentation in July 2026 for a dual listing on the New York Stock Exchange and Buenos Aires exchange. The initial public offering contemplated sale of BNR Power Investments shares, with proceeds flowing to the selling shareholder rather than the company. YPF’s announcement did not specify whether the listing process will continue under revised structure.
YPF president Horacio Marín disclosed collaboration with Tesla to deploy ultra-fast charging infrastructure across national corridors starting in 2027, with initial routes linking Rosario, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and Mendoza. The partnership combines Tesla hardware and software with YPF’s service station network and integrates lithium battery storage at charging nodes to manage grid demand during peak usage. The charging network aligns with YPF Luz’s expanded role supplying industrial consumers, copper and lithium mining operations in northwestern and Cuyo regions, and data processing centers requiring low-carbon baseload power.
