ABB Argentina Exports 28,000 Engineering Hours in 2025, Positions Local Hub as Global Service Provider

ABB Argentina’s Operation Center executed engineering services for clients in the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, United Kingdom and Czech Republic during 2025, with the majority concentrated in the Automation business unit. The 28,000-hour milestone represents the highest volume of exported engineering services in the subsidiary’s history, according to statements from Somale, who has led ABB’s Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay operations. Engineering Manager Guillermo Lamana attributed the competitive position to local talent quality, innovation capacity and operational resilience that allow Argentine teams to meet demanding specifications and timelines for international industrial projects.

The engineering exports contribute to ABB Argentina’s broader portfolio, which includes manufacturing operations at a Tucumán plant certified under the company’s Mission to Zero sustainability initiative targeting complete emissions elimination in Scope 1 and 2 operations by 2030. ABB inaugurated a Regional Technology Training Center in Buenos Aires during 2025 to provide hands-on access to electrification, robotics, automation and motion solutions for clients, partners and students. The facility supports technology transfer objectives as Argentina positions for anticipated mining and energy project growth under the RIGI investment framework.

Somale identified electrification, automation and digitalization as areas where ABB sees cross-sector innovation opportunities in products, processes and business models. The company served as global sponsor for ABB FIA Formula E racing and implemented electrification solutions for Buenos Aires public transport and Buquebus maritime operations, including the fully electric vessel Chona Zorilla. ABB maintained relationships with traditional Argentine industrial sectors including agribusiness, food processing and general manufacturing while developing capabilities for incoming mining and energy projects involving multinational clients already operating ABB technology in other regions.

The subsidiary’s centenarian presence in Argentina provides local market knowledge combined with global standards, according to Somale, who emphasized that Argentine professionals lead global ABB projects and design solutions deployed across five continents. The Country Holding Officer participated in industry forums on women’s representation in energy and mining sectors and hosted meetings with university interns to strengthen employer brand positioning. ABB Argentina plans to expand international collaboration and increase contributions to strategic projects in 2026 as the engineering service model gains traction within the company’s global operations structure.
