The dealership expansion builds on the existing arrangement for Toyota’s Zárate industrial plant, which has operated on 100 percent renewable electricity since 2018. That facility, producing 180,000 units annually of Hilux, SW4 and Hiace models, has consumed a cumulative 479,100 MWh of renewable power supplied by YPF Luz over the period, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 133,000 homes. The partnership initially focused solely on manufacturing operations, then extended to segments of the supplier chain, and now reaches the commercial and customer service stages with the dealership integration.
Toyota Argentina frames the initiative within its Global Environmental Objectives 2050, which target CO₂ reduction across the full vehicle lifecycle rather than production alone. The strategy aims to embed renewable energy use in stages both upstream and downstream of vehicle assembly. The agreement leaves open the possibility of incorporating additional dealerships in future phases, suggesting potential for further network expansion as the automaker pursues its carbon neutrality roadmap.
YPF Luz, the power generation arm of state-controlled YPF, operates wind and solar assets across multiple Argentine provinces. The company has positioned renewable supply contracts as long-term, competitive solutions for industrial and commercial clients seeking to lower emissions intensity. The Toyota dealership contract represents a model for extending corporate renewable procurement from heavy industrial loads to distributed commercial sites with lower individual demand but broader geographic footprint.
